After winning the crown last week, JESSICA TANDY managed to hold on to the the title by defeating RINTERSPLINT last night at the PHILLY IMPROV THEATER‘s CAGEMATCH.
Now that PHIT is tackling it’s longest run to date at the Shubin, the victory celebrations are much shorter… they are on the chopping block again next week, this time challenged be newcomer PRO B (Emily Davis & Rick Horner). With a couple of shows already under their belt, will this team sweep in to claim the title and bring down Jessica Tandy? Your votes decide…

Update: Also performing at 9:30, those organic ladies of originality (and apparently oversight)… The Amie & Kristen Show. Apologies for the omission.
The PHILLY IMPROV THEATER is geared up for a couple of great shows tonight at the Shubin Theater, with a little something for everyone:
First up is HEY EVERYBODY, with special guest host, LUKE GIORDANO. Comics grabbing the mic tonight include ROGER WEAVER, SIDNEY GANTT and JAMES HESKY.
Then stick around for the dynamic duo of improv comedy, RICK HORNER and CUBBY ALTOBELLI, as they present WHIPSUIT: ANOTHER LOOK.

Autobots vs Decepticons. Superman vs Bizarro Superman. Joe vs Cobra. Inigo vs the six-fingered Count Rugen. All historical childsplay when Rick Horner and Cubby Altobelli take the stage as Whipsuit.
While every show is different… another battle of wits, tongues and physical mayhem surely lies lurking around each new corner. Come out and risk the danger, energy and discovery with them.

The Philadelphia Improv Theater has officially announced the rosters of their brand spankin’ new house teams, and we’re super excited about both the veteran talent and the up-and-comers on these lists.
HOUSE TEAM I
directed by Rick Horner
Mike Schwartz, John Nolan, Jana Savini, Kim Breslin, Jason Stockdale, Alan Williams, Kelly Jo Little, Diana DePasquale & Sarah Goldrath
HOUSE TEAM II
directed by Scott Sheppard
Dan Rich, Rob Baniewicz, John Buseman, Kristen Schier, Gillienne Nadeau, Jay Brenner & Sam George
HOUSE TEAM III
directed by Greg Maughan
Nick Gillette, Bob Swenson, Jefferson Haynes, Meg Favreau, AJ Horan, Katie Horahan, Rob Cutler & Shane Jenkins.
In their recent newsletter, PHIT gaves us a little taste of what we can expect:
“Over the next few months you are going to come to know and love all these people… if you don’t already – and see them become a great addition to the scene. So is the rest of the country: after premiering in the Fall, our house teams will start traveling, first to the People’s Improv Theater in NYC, then to festivals all over the country!”
Congrats to all the teams, we look forward to see you take the stage!
