PHIT announced details of Mystery Show

06/12/2009

The other day when the PHILLY IMPROV THEATER announced it’s lineup this weekend at the Shubin, there was a bit of a question mark around the 8PM show on Saturday, which was listed simply as Mystery Show.

The details have emerged on the guests, and it should prove to be a fun and unusual mashup of performers…

SATURDAY, 8PM – TRAFFIC JELLY & BATPHIT

Two person longform from Traffic Jelly featuring special guest Matt Nelson (PhillyImprov.com; Philadelphia Improv Festival Executive Producer; The N Crowd). Then, a select cast of Philly Improv Theater Resident & Affiliate Group members peforms The Bat: a 30 minute show completely improvised, completely in the dark.

Details can be found here

Final show for Men About Town this Thursday

04/29/2009

This Thursday MEN ABOUT TOWN will take the stage for the last time:

Join Corey, Alli and Matt as we bid farewell to nearly four years of shows with an evening of special guests and one final performance.

Throughout our run, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to play some amazing venues and events, including many shows at the Philly Improv Theater, CAGEMATCH, off-Broadway at the NYC Sketch-a-thon, the Philadelphia Improv Festival, the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, the Dirty South Improv Festival, the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, the Del Close Marathon and at the historic Trocadero Theatre. To the many who have invited us on to their stages, we thank you. It’s been a blast.

We’d like to send a special thanks to all those who have come out to support our shows through the years. We invite you to come laugh with us one more time. You bring the movie line and we’ll bring the madness.

Special guests will include TWO GUIDOS & TRAFFIC JELLY. Be sure to come on out and say goodbye!

Click This: new comedy site launches

02/10/2009

Yesterday marked the soft launch of a new Philadelphia-based comedy site, FunnyPhilly.com

The site looks to be heavily focused on standup in the area, and already has a decent stable of blog contributors (including Traffic Jelly’s Ann Marie Trepkowski) as well as listings for open mics. Not yet active but in the works are event listings, comedian profiles and booking information.

Bookmark it and check back, because when all the features launch, it promises to be a nice source for local info.

Comic Vs. Audience has the lowdown on the benefit auction:

“Part comedy show, part benefit auction, The Parade of A-holes will take you on a hilarious trip through your bad dating decisions. In the style of a charity bachelor auction, these eligible and annoying singles (played by a selection of Philly’s favorite improvisers and sketch comedians) will be “auctioned” alongside fabulous prize packages. The winning bidder goes home with the prize, not the a-hole, and everyone gets a chance to laugh at some characters everyone’s dated but nobody likes. Bonus: It’s all for charity! The Parade of A-Holes: Laugh! Bid! WIN!”
