This past Monday, Connie’s Ric Rac played host to a little more than just the regularly scheduled Bedtime Stories.
Host Gregg Gethard’s brother, UCB fave Chris Gethard, is currently embarking on a cross-country comedy tour in an RV with some of his comedian friends… performing shows and perpetrating all kinds of general lunacy.
While tweeting from the road, a little smack talking sprung up between Philly comic Dan Eastman and Gethard, which led to a fight challenge. Eastman just happened to be on stage exactly when the RV pulled into the Italian Market.
After some grappling, Gethard (having studied Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) secured a solid choke hold and Eastman tapped out – the bout was finished… Or so the crowd thought.
During the battle, some cheering had started in the crowd for local sketch group Camp Woods. Gethard called them out on the mic, and member JP Boudwin leaped on stage. Soon, the stage was filled with members from each side. Camp Woods vs AmericaGethard. A frenzy ensued, with the NYCers claiming final victory.
Catch the fight in the video below, and be sure to check out Gethard’s comment in his blog post.
GREGG GETHARD is back tonight with his monthly comedy showcase BEDTIME STORIES. The theme this month is Orphans of SugarHouse. According to Gethard, the show is about the “soulcrushing world of Philadelphia’s new casino, a land where children are left in cars and beer is thrown on the floor.”
We’ll see new sketches and videos from the likes of Meg & Rob, HateSpeechCommittee, and many others.

Awhile back we told you about this month’s theme for BEDTIME STORIES. Tonight, host Gregg Gethard plans to truly send in the clowns as he and a slew of comedians take on the fans of Insane Clown Posse in The Gathering of the Juggalos.
Be on the lookout for juggalettes, ninjalos, hood rats, foo dangs and an assortment of other 9 mile scrubs, as Bedtime Stories pays tribute with a send up of those who are down with the clown. And at $10, that’s not a lot of skrilla.

We’ve come upon the second Tuesday of the month, and it’s time for another installment of SECOND STORIES hosted by the always charmingly endearing JAIME FOUNTAINE.
This month’s show is entitled Kill Yr Idols, an evening of stories about our heroes and “how they’ve failed us, redeemed themselves, and remained untouchable, even when touched.”
Featured storytellers include Jan Cohen, Ilana Heilweil reading the work of her husband Gregg Gethard and of course Fountaine herself.

BEDTIME STORIES creator and host Gregg Gethard just announced a change in theme for the show’s August installment. Formerly Family Vacations, the new theme will be The Gathering of the Juggalos.
For those of you who may not be familiar with what a Juggalo is, it’s a title reserved for the most die-hard fans of horror core rap group Insane Clown Posse.
how do you make fun of these people?
The theme Gathering of the Juggalos takes its name from their festival, an annual assembly of legions of horror core fans, doing everything from rocking out with an ax (no, not guitars… real axes!) to seminars on face painting, and everything in between. Don’t believe me? Mr. Gethard was kind enough to share a link to this 17 minute long infomercial, detailing this very surreal event:
If you don’t have that long, here’s a brief glimpse at an example of a classic ICP Juggalo fan rant, courtesy of Encyclopedia of Stupid:
“I AM A JUGGALO BEEN DOWN WITH THE CLOWN SINCE 1992… ICP IS SPEEKING ABOUT GOD IN A DARK WAY… IF U DONT LIKE US THEN KEEP UR MOUTH SHUT… WE R FAMILY, AND AS FAMILY WE LOOK OUT FOR EACHOTHER… I HAVE JUGGALLO FAMILY TAT’S ON MY BODY… IM 22YR’S OLD AND IMA JUGGALO EVEN WHEN I DIE… IM TIRED OF U PPL TALKIN DOWN ON US… U DONT UNDERSTAND WAT THEY R TRYIN TO DO… FOR EVEY KID THE GETS BEAT DOWN OR CALL A OUTCAST, FREAKS & WEIRDO’S, WE CALL THEM FAMILY… WE STICK TOGETHER… U PPL HAVE NO IDEA WAT U R TALKIN ABOUT… GET UR FACT’S STRAIGHT……”
So yeah, as you can well imagine, this is going to be a GREAT theme!

BEDTIME STORIES, the monthly sketch variety show created and hosted by Gregg Gethard, steps into the ring tonight to pay tribute to “the greatest artform in the history of mankind” – professional wrestling.
Tonights show, A Comedic Tribute to the Squared Circle, will feature much more than the sketches, videos and powerpoints that pull in packed houses month after month. With Gethard being a true wrestling diehard, it’s truly no holds barred… You’ll see several wrestling greats take the stage, including standup comedy from former WWE / current ROH powerhouse Colt Cabana, indie darling Claudio Castagnoli and even the evil tyrant of Chikara Pro, Ultramantis Black.
Here’s a promo video Gethard recently made imaging Nature Boy Ric Flair peddling real estate in Manayunk:
If there’s anything greater than comedians making fun of something, it’s comedians paying homage to something they love… although you may want to make sure your insurance is paid up.
