Troika continues with Round 2 tonight

After an  amazing 2010 debut last week, TROIKA continues tonight with Round Two.

Featured this evening are BJ Ellis, Sue Taney and John Nolan as Basil Poledouris… Jessica Ross, Jana Savini and Dan Stabb as Viewers Like You… and Dan Rich, Jake Beckerman and Nick Gillette as Confidential.

We’ll also be drawing Round Three teams during the show tonight as well. Tonights winner will advance on to face R3 winner and R1 champs, the Meadowbrook Public Library Storybook Players at the Championships on May 6th.

PHIT storms the Shubin with biggest lineup yet

Last night the PHILLY IMPROV THEATER launched their monthly run at the Shubin with a staged reading of When I Was, a new one-act play penned by house team member Michael Schwartz. The theater goes dark again tonight, right before PHIT starts ramping up into it’s largest run at the Shubin to date!

They’ll be tackling nearly thirty shows over the next two weeks, including performances by guests from NYC and Chicago, a workshop from former Philadelphian and PHIF founder Mike McFarland, as well as a special screening of the new TJ & Dave documentary. And it all resumes tomorrow night…

Tonight at PHIT: Improv PhD with Cubed and Cagematch

The PHILLY IMPROV THEATER is hitting the final stretch of December shows at the Shubin, and tonight features their shows Improv PhD and CAGEMATCH.

IMPROV PHD is where PHIT welcomes a local college group and pairs them with a PHIT house team or PHIT affiliate. This evening PHIT pairs premise-based office dwellers CUBED with U Penn’s WITHOUT A NET.

CAGEMATCH features an upstart challenger squaring off against the returning champ from the previous show. The audiences watches both improv sets and votes on which is their favorite. In the arena tonight – multi-time champs ROOKIE CARD take on THE ONES YOUR MOMS WARNED YOU ABOUT, a group risen from the ashes of Troika.

The PHILLY IMPROV THEATER keeps ’em coming tonight with THE BULLY PULPIT. The show features comedian LUKE GIORDANO hosting a panel of four different comedians each month in a round table of discussion, argument, and personal attacks. Moving from topic to topic, the show can center on pop culture, current events, or whatever the panelists have on their minds for a show full of fresh, off-the-cuff comedy in the heat of the moment.

The PHILLY IMPROV THEATER‘s Shubin Shows continue on tonight with a rocking lineup.

First at 8PM, start the night out right with PHIT houseteam EVERYTHING MUST GO and a performance by LEO CALLAHAN, a group born out of members of the recently departed local fave ILLEGAL REFILL.

Then hunker down for the 9:30PM show, because you’re in for a treat. Acclaimed houseteam FLETCHER takes the stage, followed by a set from supergroup RARE BIRD SHOW.

Yeah, it’s kinda like that.

One Night Only: NYC darlings 4 Track confirmed by PHIT

From the Magnet Theater, the NYC-based improv quartet 4 Track is set to drop in for a single performance as PHIT hosts their monthly Shubin Week. They were last in town to play the Philadelphia Improv Festival, where they garnered tremendous critical praise.

Named Best New Improv Group by Timeout Magazine and “one of the best improv shows in the city” by the NBC Morning Show, 4 Track will join the Moops and Industrial onstage during the 10pm show on Fri, Feb 6th.
